I think he wants to know which is better to use on his great conches.
In that case, use the smtm on your conches.
Save the mfm for items that can contain gems and salvage them, I got my set of vabbian armor that way, real cheap.

What?

Always use mfm on conches, you can get a stack of dust with 2-3 conches that way.

When raptor farming, you'll get plenty of mfm anyway to use on the conches you get.

I don't know specifically about Conches, but overall it comes down to whether or not the amount of gold you would get from smtm will buy more dust/material than you'd get from mfm, especially if you consider buying stacks of dust/material from other players.

You say you get 1 stack of dust with 2-3 conches so you use 2-3 mfm.
I say I get a rubies/sapphire for 75% of my mfm.
What would be better? 1 stack of dust, or 2 rubies/sapphires?

Ok this should be put on wiki and everyone stop farming feathers etc and do this instead ( end sarcasm )

You my friend must be the luckiest bloke in gw as ive only ever seen a few posts where someone has stated they got a few rubies and that was from quite a lot of attempts.Ive probably gone thru 100 ruby mauls in my time with m4m and ive yet to get a ruby and im sure many will agree with me there.
Id rather say theres a remote chance of a ruby/saph rather than 75% of the time i get ruby/saphs

Which items did you have the most luck with?

75% is extremely unlikely. The average (gold) conches to get a stack of dust is 3 I'd say (with cases ranging from 2 to 4 conches).

Of course, why not use mfm for both? I know I do.

I've had the best luck with the jeweled and ruby daggers for getting the valuable gems, maybe 1 in 3 with a mfm in it. Although I did get 2 sapphires from jeweled daggers once. My strike rate with ruby mauls seems to be much, much lower.

I second the always mfm on conches. 1/4 to 1/3 of a stack of dust is of the order 1k. You can always buy extra mfm for about 300g and always make a profit putting it in a conch.

Yeah...ruby mauls aren't too kind to me, either, but I got a ruby and a sapphire by using MfM on some stuff I picked up while farming Cobalt Talons. If you do any farming, even casually, you should have enough MfMs floating around to be able to use them on both conches and jeweled weapons; you can slap "Show me the money!" on damn near anything; so I'm not sure what the dilemma is.
